I believe the Wailing Maiden was the first tavern ever mentioned in CVRPG. Just felt like making a nod to it.
Gretchen is also a nod to the greater ICVD/CVRPG universe. Gretchen Renard, one of three characters designed for the cancelled Sega 32X game, Castlevania: Bloodletting. She was unnamed in the sprites they released from that game, but I took the liberty of naming her (as well as Hanz, who shows up in DSWC).
So yes, that Gretchen.

These guys are, sadly, the best the world can hope for. These are the adventures of the heroes of CVRPG. They mean well, they try hard, and occasionally they do the impossible...
They actually do something heroic.
