The top joke is in reference to the fact that fans wanted to know who the party thrower was. For the record, I do not know. I never did. It was just a party, and vampires showed up.
Had I built out that side of the story, I probably would have made some cabal of vampires that were actually in charge of the "underworld" of undead crimes. That was actually a part of the old forum RPG, but it was one of the details I didn't bring over to the series.
