It should be noted that I write this particular comic from experience. I literally have no clue most of the time where true north actually is -- often what I think is "north" is actually not even close... usually in the wrong direction.
I orient on what I know, and assume my logical "home" is north and everything around it isn't, no matter how wrong I may be. I feel Alec's pain in this instance. I've been there.
