This scene also happened in the RPG. Raye wasn't named Raye at the time (I can't remember what I called her originally, although past me somewhere in the commentaries of this whole comic archive might have mentioned it -- again, it was 22 years or so ago so some details have been lost) but this sequence, with her getting her soul and running off into the night absolutely did happen. That was actually one of the last events written in the RPG before it died and I felt the need to continue it in comic form.
When evil spreads across the land, and darkness rises and the monsters roam. When the creatures of the night make beautiful music, and the things that go bump in the night go bump with greater enthusiasm. When the world is in peril and is in need of a hero...
These guys are, sadly, the best the world can hope for. These are the adventures of the heroes of CVRPG. They mean well, they try hard, and occasionally they do the impossible...
They actually do something heroic.
