As someone that actually does respect Castlevania continuity, it is nice when I can take something inherent to the character and actually use it to my advantage. The item crash, in this case, is something very much tied to Richter. The only other character that could crash items was Nathan, and he has to use a magical set of cards to do it. Not quite the same.

Huh... I coulda sworn one or two others could Crash as well... but off the top of my head, all I can think of is Julius, who for certain could at least use Grand Cross (and being the only descendant after Richter to fight Dracula, it follows he might have inherited some tricks.)
I wonder if, canonically, Nathan ‘passed on’ the knowledge of the item crush from the cards and Richter perfected it without need of them. Oddly, Maria’s specials are labeled as Item Crushes in Rondo, but being they’re really just super charged spells I hardly count it.
