Yes, this was also a true story. It wasn't the monitor though. That was easier to draw than the computer frying. But eh, otherwise true. I go to use the computer, and it makes a nasty noise. Very not good.
That monitor, btw, went on to be the inspiration for Compthulu. Recently it died, and has been replaced by a 19inch beast, which may get turned into Compthulu, the Net Generation, or Mech-Compthulu or something.
