#356: Evermore Garlic
I think the biggest knocks against it are that it was Square's "follow up" to Chrono Trigger (that being the game they released after CT that year). It was also released here in the U.S. instead of Secret of Mana 2 (or whatever you want to call it -- SoM2 never came over because of translation issues, but we got this and it just didn't feel the same). Evermore is ostensibly built on a system very similar to the Mana games, so it just felt like a poor-man's Mana 2.
All that aside, I really don't have much to comment on in particular. The hero actually leaves Evermore at the end of the game, so realistically he wouldn't still be hanging around delivering pizzas to the various locations in Evermore... but eh. I like this version better.
When evil spreads across the land, and darkness rises and the monsters roam. When the creatures of the night make beautiful music, and the things that go bump in the night go bump with greater enthusiasm. When the world is in peril and is in need of a hero...
These guys are, sadly, the best the world can hope for. These are the adventures of the heroes of CVRPG. They mean well, they try hard, and occasionally they do the impossible...
They actually do something heroic.
