In my head, Hanz uses a whip akin go the Hunter's Whip from Circle of the Moon. Far as I can read, Konami considers that whip to be different from the Vampire Killer, this despite the fact the game itself never really tells you it's a different whip. Nate uses the whip not entirely unlike Simon in that game, and many of his powers and abilities duplicate things the Belmont can do, so whip would it be a different whip? Regardless, if they consider it a different whip (and, probably, inferior to the Vampire Killer, one would assume), that makes it the perfect whip for Hanz to use. "Not the real deal and clearly inferior" is Hanz's middle name. His parents were very cruel.
